The Inspiration Behind UNSIN
UNSIN’s founder and CEO, Julian Duque, shares that the platform grew out of a strong passion for live music and its ability to unite people. It’s a space dedicated to supporting emerging artists and professionals, connecting them with the music industry in an authentic, relaxed environment.
The Start
The love for live music started at Rock al Parque, a major free festival held every year in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital. Picture a huge park packed with over 80,000 people across three or four days, full of energy. One big moment came when La Pestilencia, a Colombian hard rock band, took the stage. The crowd went wild—jumping, pushing, forming a mosh pit. Then the ground began to shake, not just a little wiggle but a strong shift from thousands moving together. That mix of awe and excitement showed how live music can connect and inspire. This experience paved the way for UNSIN.This led to checking out festivals worldwide—South by Southwest, LAMC, NRMAL in Mexico, FORM in Arizona, Mutek in Canada, and back to Rock al Parque. Big stages were great, but smaller spots—like a bar at SXSW with a surprise talent—stood out. Festivals offered more than music: food, markets, and the fun of what’s next.
Making It Happen in the US
During his Master’s in Music Business at NYU, the thesis project, How to Produce a Latin Music Festival in New York, unknowingly laid the foundation for UNSIN and further shaped this vision. The project checked out festivals like Coachella, NRMAL, FORM, and Mutek, picking up what made them special. In November 2022, UNSIN launched in Miami as a modest, self-financed event focused on discovering new talent. The effort paid off and the May 2023 event improved its timing, the 2024 event grew its audience, and now, in 2025, the fourth event is lifting UNSIN to a become even bigger.
What UNSIN Means
UNSIN stands for “unseen”—to undiscovered artists, ideas, and folks ready to shine. It skips the music industry’s glitz, focusing on real talk. It’s less about status or credentials and more about passion and goals. UNSIN offers a friendly space for new voices and inspiration through music and chats.
What’s Next
By 2027, UNSIN aims to host a festival for 10,000 attendees, mixing music with fun talks on creative fields like art and comedy. By 2030, a cultural hub will open—a real place for live shows, meetings, workspaces, teamwork, and community. Affordable and open, it will keep creativity for everyone.
